Got bit by this, found tip in B&N Forum in case you "nooktalk" folks would benefit!

---------------------

If you think your screen on nook may be frozen, you may want to try these steps to reboot your nook:

First, try holding the power down for 10-15 seconds, and then pressing the power button again. If that doesn't reboot your Nook, try:

1. Unplugging the nook.
2. Remove the battery (if you don't know how, there are further instructions in the manual).
3. Plug the nook in, without the battery.

The Nook should begin to go through its booting process. Once booted, replace the battery (don't turn the nook off or unplug).

If these steps don't work, you may have to call our digital support team in customer service. They can be reached at 1-800-THE-BOOK (1-800-843-2665).

This definitely works. My nook's screen was frozen for over 12 hours and I had taken the battery out several times. Almost as soon as I plugged it in without the battery it started the booting process.

Thanks for the help!!

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much. After so many forums, this was the only thing that worked. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Just got my Nook tonight and the screen froze before I even got through the tutorial. Thanks for the tips here. Holding down the power button for 15 seconds and then hitting it again worked.

Thanks!!

The "power boot" wouldn't recover it, but removing the battery and letting it reboot off the power cord did. Thanks for the tip!

I've become "tech support" for my wife's Nook. The screen froze with it turned on and it TOTALLY depleted the battery. I've learned more about the Nook in one evening than I EVER thought there was to know...

THANKS for the great tip.

Thanks so much! My nook just froze up on me a little over 30 minutes ago when I was clicking off the screensaver to start reading. It was stuck on opening your book!

I had tried holding down the on/off button, but had not been patient enough to count to 20. Thanks so much!
It's back on!
Cheers,
Elizabeth
