I bought my Nook on Memorial Day. Worked fine until last week. I finished a book Friday evening, then set the Nook aside, intending to start a new one at bedtime. When I came back to the Nook, the screen saver was frozen in the lower left corner with black lines criss-crossing the screen horizontally & vertically. It was fine two hours before that, and hadn't been touched in the interim!

The Nook was kept in a case, treated gently, and hadn't given me any problems in the six weeks or so I've owned it.

I called tech support who walked me through various steps, including a hard reboot. Nothing worked. I sent the Nook back to B&N for repair yesterday.

Has anyone experienced the same issue? This is baffling!

This just happened to my nook yesterday and I've only had it since 5-25-10 and the ink display is shot. I was reading it, it went to sleep for about 45 minutes, when I attempted to read it again, nothing but black lines. BN is sending a replacement today.

yep, just happened to me today, except the lines on mine are white and there are also "ghost images" on the screen. Apparently this is a common problem, and there is no fix except replacement.

The nook has really had it's share of these. My warranty will expire in December and if it breaks I'll wait for the "new" nook model. I had to go through 2 replacements recently due to the cracked button problem..

This happened to me today. Getting ready to settle into bed, turn on the Nook and half the screen saver is frozen over everything and a couple of white lines are crossing the rest. I tried removing the battery and plugging it in to both the wall and usb on my computer with no change. If I take it to B&N will they just hand me a new one? Or are there hoops to jump through to have this taken care of?
